Brown Beret
This morning I completed my brown and pink polka dotted beret. Voila! This is fun! Now that I know how to do this, I can make some more berets and then move onto making the curtains for the second bedroom, which has been converted to a place where we enjoy our hobbies of dance, exercising, sewing, amateur radio, radio control repairs,etc.... I am thinking of going with pink gingham for the curtains but we'll see if that idea isn't vetoed..lol. I think it might brighten the room up. However, I still have my hand warmers to finish sewing as well as the apron. Gosh, I wish my vacation would last longer so I could sew more!!!!!

Black Friday
At 4:15 a.m., my alarm clock was blaring out a song that was TOO LOUD for that time of the morning. However, I got out of bed and got dressed. And my sister, niece, and I headed to Wal-Mart for the good sales that had been advertised in the circular. Ahhhh, it was exhilarating finding good bargains. Once we finally paid for our purchases, we headed out for breakfast, and by the time we knew it, we were headed off to other stores that were out of town. Then, at 11 a.m., we were in the cinema watching "Twilight", which is such a beautiful tale of love involving a mortal with a vampire. The setting of the movie is both eerie and breathtaking, and I am now such a fan!
I am now reading the first book of the series (also titled Twilight).
Thanksgiving Day
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, a day to reflect on things that one is most grateful for in life. Plus, it was a day of sharing time with family and friends. The day was lovely, but I missed Mom so very much because she has always played a major role in our family celebrations. It felt as though there was a piece of me missing. However, I did celebrate the holiday even though a part of me wanted to shut down and eliminate the holiday altogether. But, I didn't. And the day passed by like all of the other days. Yet, even though I felt the underlying emotions of feeling homesick, the day was filled with laughter and love.

My First Sewing Project: A Beret Thanks to the Martha Stewart Site:)
Leigh gave me a sewing machine for Christmas, and I've already put it to great use. My first project, a beret, has been my pride and joy for the moment. Completing it today makes me feel as though I've actually done something productive and not given up (although at some point I did get a bit irritable when trying to sew in a straight line!) It's not a perfect piece, but it is wearable, and I'm so happy that I can make something useful by actually sewing! I have one more beret to sew and then hopefully I'll be moving on to making curtains.
