Getting Geared Up for the Week
The day went by smoothly even though BOTH the teachers and the kiddos are ready for tomorrow..lol. FIELD TRIPPPPPPP! YAYYYY! It's nice to go on our first OFFICIAL field trip this year. The children are excited and eager to go on the bus to talk their friends, listen to their headphones, and play on their psp's. [Not pcp's, which is what one speaker said at our meeting once, and I nearly burst out loud laughing. I had to bite my lip and force myself NOT to laugh.]

Home Is Where the Heart Is
You Were There
You were there when we took our first steps,
And went unsteadily across the floor.
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,
Until our steps took us out the door...
You worry now ,"Are they ok?"
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder,"Where have my children gone?"
Where we are is where you have led us,
With your special love you showed us a way,
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make.
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.
And where we go you can be sure,
In spirit you shall never be alone.
For where you are is what matters most to us,
Because to us that will always be home...

New Pet
Leigh and his completed Betta Fish Vase Project
Blue Betta Basking in the Light
Shocked Shak Suspiciously Viewing The Fish
Intensely Enthralled in the Moment
Smiling Before The Yelling Begins
I was asleep for the majority of the morning while Leigh was wide awake. I finally woke up at 11:00 a.m. still with a stuffy nose, horrid cough, and a feeling as though any ounce of energy from my body was depleted and nonrenewable. BLAH! I vegetated on the couch while Leigh was working on the vehicle outside. We finally went out for a bit in the late afternoon, and we got this new pet before visiting Mom. We visited Mom for a short while since she was very tired and falling asleep.
Once we got home, Leigh worked on this project, and somehow I got involved with it as well---until I got the camera out and started going camera crazy. Then I got yelled at for taking TOO many pictures of the fish. So I was banned from taking anymore photos of the blue Betta. Geesh! BETO RAMON
Friday was a topsy-turvy type of day since our schedules at school were changed, and we kept our homeroom class with us all day long. We made Mother's Day cards, and then at 1:00, we congregated in the air-conditioned gymnasium. Our school had a Mother's Day celebration, which included a visit from Beto Ramon, a famous songwriter who sang a multitude of his Tejano songs to the audience of parents, students, and teachers for a full hour. He sang songs in both English and Spanish. I found an article on Mr. Ramon. (See:http://lmtonline.com/news/archive/0328/pagea1.pdf
and http://lmtonline.com/news/archive/0328/pagea16.pdf)
Afterwards, the children and their parents chose books at the RIF (READING IS FUNDAMENTAL) BOOK FAIR, and the children read to their parents. Then the day ended, and the workweek was once again, over.

Today I was testing in a classroom which is situated further behind the main hallways of the school. As I was walking outside to go retrieve another student for testing, I heard a lot of banging on the roof of the gymnasium. I looked up to see the janitor whacking a broom at something. Had I known what it was I would have been screaming at him to stop. On the way back, I soon found out what it was....a possum. I was outraged and upset to see the poor animal dead but what shocked me even more were the innocent baby possums still clinging onto their mother for dear life. I felt profound sadness at that time. When the animal control worker stopped by to pick up a few of the captured (and still living) creatures, he picked up the baby possums as well. I inquired what was going to happen to them, and he stated that they were going to be discharged back into the wild. I was NOT a happy camper at that time. How can someone just let defenseless, baby animals out into the wild without any help? It doesn't make sense. But, then again, some adults just don't care. It's horrid to see how uncaring some individuals can be. I was so disturbed with people being so desensitized to life around them. How can you NOT care about a living and breathing thing? Everything...EVERYTHING has a purpose in life.

Baked Shrimp Rangoon-- Altered Version of Crab Rangoon!
Tonight I made Crab Rangoon (without the crab since I added shrimp instead!) while Leigh cooked the rice. Each dozen was baked for only 19 minutes, which isn't very time-consuming. And I like that aspect of it. Plus, it tasted delish! Here's the outcome:

Which Desperate Housewife Are You?
MY RESULTS:
You're Bree
You're the perfect wife and homemaker and people in the neighborhood think highly of you... but only because they're a little scared of you because your perfectionism borders on obsessiveness. So how about you put down the spatula, take off that pearl choker, pour yourself a glass of wine, turn up the music and learn to have some fun!
