Tiring Day

My sis Linda helped me work on my classroom today. It was a bit hectic since I was moving from my CLEAN room to a filthy one that had seen better days (years ago I suppose!) Anyway, a few strange occurrences took place while we were getting adjusted in this area. One being that the television turned on by itself. Don't know how it did this but it did. Either way--it was a tad spooky.
After cleaning, we went out for a late lunch, and we happened to run into my aunt and uncle. We caught up on life's events, which is a rarity since I don't particularly see much of the family even if some of us do live in the same town.
The classroom cleaning was tackled once again, and at 10 till 5:00, we had to leave. I dashed home, got the fishing gear, and headed to meet the wheelchair shop owner at the nursing home. He brought Mom's chair, which is pink and comfy-looking. I hope this chair proves to be better for her safety.
Leigh is fishing at the moment while I opted to come back home to shower and relax. The day had been tough since we did a lot at school today. I'm thankful now for the time to just relax. :)

Uninvited Visitor

What a day! It began well and then it unraveled after my workout and visit with Mom. The climax of the day was when I walked into the house and our indoor dog dodged quickly outside as I entered. Then he came back to coax me outside. Upset with the day's events, I thought he was just being silly. Then I saw IT. A snake standing up, and the bags I were thrown to the couch after slamming the front door. The dog was locked outside until my husband came home. In the meantime, I kept an eye on the reptilian intruder. I thought that he was only 10 inches big, however, it turned out to be 3 feet long. I was NOT amused. Fortunately, Leigh got it out of the house. (Meanwhile Rocco the dog was NOT happy with us being indoors and him being outdoors so he kept nudging the doorknob constantly, wanting to make sure that we were safe I suppose.)
Either way we are now SNAKE-FREE and hopefully we will remain so in the future. Ugh! I got the heebie-jeebies thinking about this incident once again!

Fingerprints and Mugshot

I was at the personnel office at 8:10 a.m. waiting to get my fingerprinting and photograph done and dusted. However, the person doing this task was running behind schedule. Grrr! It was pretty cool seeing one's fingerprints enlarged 100 times bigger. But everything was done so clinically that it made me feel as if I was a suspect in CSI...lol!
After this was completed, I went to my classroom and started working on my room. I was the filing queen and got most of my filing cabinets cleaned and organized. Seems as if I'm purging a lot of clutter lately. It's been four straight days now.
After being there all morning long, I came home and watched a few episodes of "Ghost Hunters" before heading out to the gym for an afternoon workout.
I am thrilled to say that my personal trainer won 1st place at the competition in Canada! He won an awesome trophy in the shape of a muscular bodybuilder. While there, I made friends with Mindy, a new member of the gym. Then I met up with my hubby and we went out for dinner. Now it's late and I should be in bed since I need to wake up early tomorrow morning for another busy day. Hope everyone has a good night's sleep. :)

Another day of cleaning....grumble grumble

I tackled the car today....The trunk can actually be seen now that I organized it and emptied the contents. Most of the items were books and papers (both belonging to either Leigh or myself.) HA! I was glad that the majority wasn't mine...hehe. I tend to get labeled as the "Messy Marvin", which I can be sometimes. The inside of the car was also tidied up, but once I reached the backseat, I decided to call it a day because it was scorching hot outside at that time. Plus, I was (and still am ) dreading tomorrow. I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL YET! Argh! I want a few more months of freedom. Freedom to just work out, visit Mom everyday and know that she's safe and happy, and just to enjoy watching marathons of Ghost Hunters without any excessive paperwork looming over my head like a bad thundercloud. Well, tomorrow is really just a day of getting fingerprinted and photographed for some ID card that we'll be getting this year. But, then it will be going into my classroom to start organizing and cleaning up. I don't like the disruptive change to my ritual pattern of summer living. Oh well, I must come to terms with the loss of this freedom, which is inevitable.

Better Feng Shui

Well today is Saturday (which really feels like Sunday since I didn't go to the gym yesterday morning!) My regular routine was a tad off. I cleaned the bedroom all day yesterday in hopes of creating some organization before school (yes I said the S word) begins. So far, so good. Now, after tacking part of the second bedroom today (after my Wii workout), I feel as if I have accomplished something. Now, I'm just trying not to eat much before we have date night later today at my fave seafood restaurant. Woohoooo!

I am a bit happy to say that I've lost about 20 lbs so far this summer. It's been grueling especially with the temperatures of 110+ , but I am a bit happy about it. Now, I am just working on a plan to keep up with this fitness regiment because I have loads of energy now. My biggest fear is getting lazy and having a lapse because of the hectic school load. But as they say "planning prevents poor performance". So I intend to work hard on being healthier. Plus, I am going to do better in blogging on here. I missed writing down my thoughts. (I caught a bad case of FaceBookitis, which caused me to miss out on my fave activity:blogging on Multiply!) However, I will find a balance between this all. Hmmm.....feel like I'm a circus act: Juggler Extraordinaire!

Ghosts in School

Most of the time it feels as though we live at school (with the late hours that we keep there!) However, this is a ghostly experience that I would have been spooked with (even though I love going on haunted tours and watching hours and hours of "A Haunting" series!) Yet, after having one of my colleagues actually SEE something paranormal has left us all spooked. First of all, it happened in her classroom. Secondly, another child in the room saw this ghostly figure of a young girl as well since it occurred during school hours. Apparently, some of the janitors have also seen her skipping down the hallway in OUR WING. What the heck!?!?! In addition to this, another child from the same classroom has seen the apparition in the bathroom mirror when she was washing her hands, and it spooked her. Now, to sound foolish, all weekend long I avoided looking into any mirrors at all. Plus, if I had to wake up in the middle of the night for a restroom break, I would awaken Rocco so he could be ready to come to my side if need be. Yes, I am a big scaredy cat when it comes to things like this, but what makes it worse is that it intrigues me as well. Talk about conflicting feelings! Either way, it is sad to know that a young little girl with dark hair is roaming the halls all alone. It makes me wonder what she may be seeking as well as how long she has been away from her family.

Ahhh....New Orleans!!!

It's Mardi Gras once again, and boy, that brings back memories of New Orleans. I love that place...the people, the food (oooh those beignets and grits...yum yum!), and the music. One of my favorite places to frequent was the Preservation Hall. I went there many times because I loved listening to the band. Their music just lifted my spirits.
